Update May 29:

There are no new cases of the virus at the community at this time.

Update May 21:

We are pleased to report there are no new cases of the virus reported at the community at this time.

Update May 12:

We want to share some good news with you - we have received the test results from the resident and team member testing performed last week, and we are pleased to report that all the tests that were administered came back negative for COVID-19.

We also want to extend our deep appreciation to MUSC for their efforts in quickly obtaining the tests and the results. Their support means the world to us.  In addition, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to each of you for your cooperation in getting this testing done.

We are hopeful that this gives residents, family members and team members some peace of mind knowing that there are no additional cases of the virus at the community.  Based on these results we are now reinstating the Fresh Air program for residents.

We do want to throw in a note of caution and remind you that while this news is extremely positive, we must remain vigilant in the fight against this virus.  Our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol remains in place for now and we will provide updates as we explore new operational opportunities.

Update May 6:

We want to let you know that a team member at the community has tested positive for COVID-19.  This individual was away from the community from April 17-26 and last worked a shift on April 28.  The team member is not currently reporting any symptoms and will not return to work until the quarantine period has passed.  We are in touch with anyone at the community who might have been in contact with this team member. The resident who tested positive last week remains away from the community and we continue to wish both individuals our very best.

It is important to note that these two are the only people who have tested positive for the virus at the community at this time.

We also want to let you know that we have been able to partner with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to test all residents and team members at the community for COVID-19.  MUSC is using a mobile testing unit at the community and that testing is currently underway.

Update April 26:

To All Residents, Family Members and Team Members at Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park,

We want to let you know that a resident at the community has tested positive for COVID-19.  This individual was not reporting any symptoms but when we did our daily temperature check we found they were running a fever.  We took the resident to the hospital where they tested positive for the virus. The resident continues to receive care outside the community and I am sure you join us in wishing them well.

It is important to note that there are no other residents and no team members who have tested positive for the virus. We are in touch with anyone who might have interacted with the affected resident and we are also continuing to do additional deep sanitation throughout the community.

As you know, we have been operating under our Enhanced Resident Protection Protocol since March 18 and here is what that entails:

Visitors:

  • Visitors are not allowed at the community at this time.

Dining:

  • The dining room remains closed.
  • Residents are receiving all meals via cart service to their apartments.

Residents Remain in Apartments:

  • Residents remain in their apartments during this time.

Daily Temperature Checks:

  • We will continue checking residents and team members for fever symptoms each day. It is also important that residents or team members alert us immediately if they are feeling ill.

Please reach out to the community leadership team if you have any specific questions and we will continue to provide updates with any new information.
