"We knew physically, emotionally, and spiritually that it was time for us to find an assisted living residence. We started our search with a guide, produced by US News and World magazine, which helped us to prepare questions for ourselves and for the facilities we chose to visit.
We vetted five facilities online and decided to visit one of them. That visit was highly successful and was in a neighborhood where we felt we would be comfortable. Using that visit as our reference point, we visited four other assisted living and memory care facilities. Discussing our process with members of our family, our oldest granddaughter reminded us that there was such a facility in her neighborhood. The next day we decided to visit Merrill Gardens at Woodstock. The staff member who toured us was very knowledgeable and provided information about the community and treated our questions with respect and appropriateness. We were quite pleased that our small dog would be welcome and when we learned that the dining room was open from 7 AM until 7 PM we decided to propose to our family that this might be the residence for us.
That was two years ago, and our decision has stood the test of time, and Merrill Gardens at Woodstock has proven to be “the place (community) for us.”
