Bankers Hill is a historic uptown San Diego neighborhood perched on a hillside overlooking the bay and airport. It was named Bankers Hill because of its reputation as the home of wealthy bankers and community leaders in the 19th century. Many historic landmarks, including homes and footbridges, still stand, spanning the Victorian Era architecture of the late 1800s to the mixed-use urban area of today. Notable structures include the Britt Scripps Manor, the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge, and houses designed by master architects Irving Gill, William Hebbard, and Richard Requa.
